BBC Proms 2026: Rachmaninov’s Second at Royal Albert Hall

On August 5, the Royal Albert Hall will host a BBC Proms 2026 concert centred around one of the great masterpieces of late Romanticism — Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2. The performance will be given by the Hallé orchestra conducted by Kahchun Wong. Deeply personal and richly lyrical, Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony emerged after the failure of his First and became one of the composer’s defining achievements. The first half of the evening features pianist Alexandra Dariescu making her Proms debut in Nadia Boulanger’s Fantasy for piano and orchestra , alongside Ravel’s shimmering La vallée des cloches orchestrated by Colin Matthews.
