BBC Proms 2026: Stravinsky and Prokofiev with the Oslo Philharmonic

On 29 August, the Oslo Philharmonic returns to the Royal Albert Hall for BBC Proms 2026 under the baton of Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. The evening features violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja in a programme balancing modernist brilliance and dramatic storytelling. At the centre of the concert is Stravinsky’s demanding Violin Concerto, inspired by Bach and filled with rhythmic vitality and sharp contrasts. The programme also includes excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, bringing Shakespeare’s tragic lovers vividly to life through sweeping orchestral colour. Opening the evening is Norwegian composer Øyvind Torvund’s Forest Morning, an atmospheric symphonic poem blending orchestra and electronics as birdsong slowly dissolves into urban noise.
