BBC Proms 2026: Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto

On 1 September, BBC Proms 2026 presents one of the most demanding and celebrated works in the piano repertoire — Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 — at the Royal Albert Hall. Jakub Hrůša conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra with Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček as soloist. The programme highlights the rich orchestral traditions of Central and Eastern Europe. It opens with Vítězslava Kaprálová’s folk-inspired Suita rustica and concludes with Janáček’s powerful Sinfonietta, composed 100 years ago and renowned for its striking brass fanfares and vivid orchestral textures.
