Prokofiev’s “Cinderella” — Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures

From December 1, 2026 to January 17, 2027, Sadler’s Wells presents Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, returning to London for the 30th anniversary of one of New Adventures’ most beloved productions. Bourne reimagines the classic fairytale in London during the Second World War. At the heart of the story is a wartime romance between Cinderella and a young RAF pilot, whose chance meeting leads to a magical night before they are separated by the horrors of the Blitz. Love, danger and longing unfold against the backdrop of blackout-era London. Set to Prokofiev’s magnificent score, the production features striking designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Neil Austin and video design by Duncan McLean, creating a vivid and deeply moving theatrical world.
